When you feel stressed ask yourself "what am I feeling?" Am I feeling one of the stress emotions such as frustration, irritation, anger, resentment, bitterness, rage or concern, worry, apprehension, fear or anxiety?
Take a few deep breaths which will help to soothe your nervous system.
Acknowledge the emotion and be kind to yourself.
Next, see if you can identify what feels threatening or dangerous. This will help to put the stressor into perspective.
See if you can identify what you need or want instead of the stressful situation.
Take regular breaks so that your mind has the ability to reset.
Exercise and eat well.
Stop drinking and eating stimulants such as coffee and chocolate which increase the release of adrenalin (stress hormone) into the bloodstream.
